Joy Kadi

Joy is a qualified lawyer with significant experience in corporate and commercial law. She has a civil law background, expertise and high knowledge of UAE laws and the practical aspects in the region.

Joy has expertise in expansion projects across the UAE and has provided support to businesses on UAE corporate restructuring projects and cross-border acquisitions. Joy's practice covers a range of industries within the wider corporate sector including but not limited to technology, e-commerce, retail, healthcare, F&B, leisure & hotels and cosmetics.

Joy's particular forte lies in navigating complex licensing arrangements and commercial arrangements, making her an invaluable asset for clients seeking precise legal insights. Joy's deal experience in the region includes acting for:

  • doTerra, an oil essential business with an international presence, to launch its specialised oil products in the UAE market, including incorporating their company in Dubai and advising on regulatory matters as well as employment/ HR-related matters and commercial agreements with contractors and customers.
  • Spanish hotel operator, Barcelo, on its Middle East hotel management operations and regulatory compliance.
  • SHEIN, a Chinese e-commerce platform company on its Middle East operations and regulatory compliance.
  • A UAE-based entity on a challenging power generation project in the Port of Aden, Yemen (deal value: USD 32 million).
  • Biogroup, a French leader group of medical analysis laboratories in France for its potential 100% acquisition, which involved advising on local healthcare regulatory matters and licensing requirements related to the potential seller, Unilabs, a Swiss-based business that has a network of clinical labs, blood collection centres and imaging centres across Europe (deal value: USD 5 billion).
  • Mitsubishi on a local acquisition as part of a business integration and HR and regulatory-related matters.
  • A leading payment solution provider in the Middle East and Africa on the acquisition of point of sale (POS) and e-commerce portfolio of a UAE bank based in Dubai (deal value: $18 million);
  • E&'s participation as lead investor in Almentor (a leading Arabic-language educational platform) in their $10 million pre-series C round; and
  • Blockchain Coinvestors Acquisition Corp. on the acquisition of a financial technology company, Qenta Inc. (deal value: $622 million).
