Julie d'Auteuil

Julie d'Auteuil is an associate in Gowling WLG's Montréal office working as a member of the firm's Labour, Employment & Equalities Group. She first joined Gowling WLG as a law student in 2017.

Since beginning her legal career, Julie has acted in many matters of individual and collective work relations. More specifically, she drafts documents pertaining to work relations, including the preparation and review of work contracts and policies. She also counsels employers on diverse aspects, notably on issues relating to terminations and group terminations as well as disciplinary matters. Since her arrival at the firm, Julie works closely with various Indigenous entities.

Before pursuing her bachelor's degree in law at the University of Montréal (2018), Julie earned a bachelor's degree in political science from McGill University (2013) and a master's degree in international studies at the Quebec Institute for Advanced International Studies (HEI) (2015). She also studied international relations at Aberystwyth University in the UK.

While pursuing her MA, Julie interned as a Canadian economic policy junior analyst at the Department of Global Affairs Canada. In addition to being a student, Julie served as a military police officer in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Representative Work

  • Managed and advised on public online dispute resolution and eCourt projects for the Quebec City Municipal Court, the Condominium Authority Tribunal of Ontario and the Office de la Protection du Consommateur.
  • Conceptualized and managed the development of an artificial intelligence legal "chatbot" for landlord/tenant disputes.
  • Conceptualized and presented various legal technology initiatives including: a knowledge management plugin for large financial institutions; a system to track court appearances in real time; and a platform for motorists to contest traffic tickets electronically.
