Leonardo Camacho

Leonardo Camacho is a summer student in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office. He is a second-year law student in the Programme de droit canadien (LLL/JD) at the University of Ottawa.

Before starting law school, Leonardo completed a degree in philosophy at the Dominican University College, where he learned to grapple with complex issues and learn the basics of rhetoric. His interest in philosophy allows him to enjoy the more abstract and complex legal issues.

During his studies, Leonardo was a proud member of the Programme de droit canadien Student Association and the Canadian Hispanic Bar Association (CHBA) UOttawa chapter. He also had the opportunity to take part in the Dentons Negotiation Competition and be a student mentor for the Programme de droit canadien.

After spending the summer at a human rights boutique firm in Toronto, Leonardo joined the Ship-source Oil Pollution Fund as a student intern to research Part 7 of the Marine Liability Act. He also had the opportunity to assist professors in their research projects at the University of Ottawa in the fields of contract theory and marine liability.
