Lwandle Gaga

Lwandle is a South African qualified corporate finance lawyer. She has experience in equity capital markets and public and private mergers and acquisitions. She practices in equity capital markets and public and private mergers and acquisitions for clients in a variety of sectors, with a focus on the mining sector. She advises clients in developed and emerging markets, including Africa, Europe, China and the Middle East.

Lwandle spent six years as a corporate lawyer with one of the top five South African law firms with a specific focus on construction and mining private and public mergers and acquisitions. She also spent two years as corporate lawyer with a magic circle firm for a diverse range of public and private corporates.

Lwandle spent a year on a client secondment at Anglo American Group Legal South Africa.

  • Managed separation of Old Mutual - managed separation to separate the London-based group into four independent, standalone companies. Advising Old Mutual Limited on its primary listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, with a standard listing on the London stock Exchange and secondary listings on the stock exchanges of Malawi, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
  • Advising on dual listing of a South African company in the FMCG sector on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and London Stock Exchange.
  • Advising on the restructuring and disposal of assets of a business division of Murray & Roberts.
  • Advising on and negotiating Anglo American's disposal of it local (South African) coal business to a broad based black economic consortium, entailing negotiating a complicated restructuring of the South African Anglo Coal business.
  • Advising on disposal/sale of business of Nu Metro cinemas by Times Media to third party purchaser.
  • Advising on disposal/sale of business of Exclusive Books by Times Media to third party purchaser.
