Malya Amghar

Malya Amghar is a partner in Gowling WLG's Montréal office, practising in the national Tax Law Group. Her practice focuses on all aspects of tax law, such as tax planning for businesses and international tax law. She performs complex strategy analysis and development in a variety of commercial operations, such as mergers and acquisitions, and cross-border restructurings.

Malya holds a LLL from the University of Ottawa (2013, magna cum laude) as well as an LLM in tax law from HEC Montréal. She is a member of the Fiscal and Financial Planning Association and the International Fiscal Association. She is also actively involved in and does presentations for the Canadian Tax Foundation.

Before joining the firm, Malya practised at another major pan-Canadian law firm, as well as at a large accounting firm. As part of her duties on the international tax team, she participated in a variety of international restructurings, helping non-residents with their investment projects in Canada and assisting Canadian residents with their foreign investment projects.

Malya practises law in English and French.
