Mike Trainer helps clients to manage risk in relation to strategic developments and investment projects, and use the law to find solutions and resolve issues on major real estate projects.
Real estate development can be complex and involved, but Mike uses his expertise to make complicated issues easy, and uses the law constructively to find solutions and not problems. In doing so, he helps clients work with their partners (whether tenants, investors, funders or contractors) to find mutually beneficial commercial solutions.
He seeks to work with clients, occupiers and investors to reflect arrangements that safeguard their respective positions and interests, to enable them to work together to their mutual benefit.
His efforts are focused on using the law to reflect and protect his clients' positions and not to hinder their aspirations.
Mike is proud of being seen as a trusted adviser who helps make things happen quickly and efficiently.
His clients include property companies, investors and corporates (particularly in the automotive sector).
Outside of work he can be found found cheering his kids on from pitch-side and playing with bikes (with or without engines).
Mike once helped a property company secure a 1,100,000 sq ft pre-let in Scotland to an international e-retailer, and forward funding the development, all between 21 December and 6 January the following year. He says it was less of a Merry Christmas but definitely a Happy New Year!
He acted for an international property company on the acquisition of strategic development site and on 1,000,000 sq ft of pre-let/turnkey developments on the site in 2013.
Mike was called in to advise an international automotive company on the acquisition of a strategic site for its subsequent development and investment of hundreds of millions of pounds in the UK.
He acted for a property company on a wind farm development utilising new technology, and on the subsequent sale of the investment.
