Nancy X. Deng

Nancy Deng is a partner and registered Canadian patent agent in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. Nancy's practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting domestic and foreign patent applications relating to telecommunications, electronics, optical and wireless devices, computer-related and mechanical inventions.

Nancy has nearly ten years of experience in the patent field. Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Nancy worked in a leading IP law firm in Japan for three years and was the co-leader of their computer/EE patent practice group. Nancy has prosecuted patents in a wide range of jurisdictions, including the U.S., Canada, Japanese, European, Chinese and Korean patent offices. She has also assisted and prevailed for clients in a number of contentious prosecution and litigation matters, including oppositions, invalidations, and infringement actions.

Born and raised in China, Nancy is an active member in the Canada-China business community. She frequently assists Chinese companies in protecting their IP assets and doing business in Canada.  

Nancy is fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin).
