Peter Milne is a respected and accomplished lawyer, patent agent, and trademark agent. His practice extends principally into the patent and trademark prosecution areas, and includes matters such as industrial designs, copyright, trade secrets and confidential information, technology transfer and licensing, and opinion work related to these areas. He is a member of a number of Gowling WLG’s industry/technology groups, including energy and infrastructure, manufacturing, automotive, and hydrogen.
Peter has received a number of industry accolades, including annual recognition in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory since 2013, recognition in Best Lawyers in Canada for the last two years, and ranking among WIPR Leaders for four consecutive years.
Outside of his day-to-day practice, Peter is an engineer and member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. He also belongs to various professional associations related to his background in materials science.
Peter is a fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), on behalf of which he is former chair of the Toronto Patent & Trademark Informals Group. He is also a member of various professional organizations dealing with intellectual property including the International Trademark Association (INTA), the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (AIPPI), and the Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle (FICPI). He sits on various committees for INTA and IPIC..
