Peter D. Morrison
Peter Morrison is a Calgary-based Gowling WLG associate working on the advocacy team. Peter's predominant areas of practice include regulatory law, insurance defence, both personal and professional liability, and employment law.
Peter’s regulatory work focuses on the oil and gas sector. He has worked on matters for upstream and midstream oil and gas clients, including joint venture disputes, licensing matters, surface rights and land expropriation disputes, as well as applications to regulators regarding tariffs and access to pipelines and facilities. Peter is familiar with the provincial regulators in Alberta, as well as the National Energy Board.
Peter has appeared on matters before Alberta’s Provincial Court and Court of Queen’s Bench, and was second chair for a matter at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Originally from Vancouver, Peter completed his law degree at the University of Calgary. During his time there, Peter was an active volunteer with Student Legal Assistance (SLA), volunteering as a caseworker, a group leader and as a member on the SLA student executive. He was also a member of the U of C Law Litigators’ basketball, volleyball and rugby teams. He received the Student Peer Assistance Law Bursary and the Alberta Law Foundation Bursary.
Peter currently volunteers with the Queen’s Bench Amicus Counsel and the Small Claims Duty Counsel projects.
