Petra Smith

Petra Smith is a law clerk in the Advocacy Group of Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office.

Petra’s work focuses on health law and medical defence, including supporting lawyers acting as counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association and its member physicians.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Petra worked as an administrative assistant at a community legal clinic and a consultation and reproduction clerk at Library and Archives Canada.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Petra has strong community ties including volunteering with Justice for Indigenous Women, advocating for perinatal mental health, and acting as an ambassador with The Ottawa Hospital’s perinatal psychiatry program.
