J. Quinn Clement-Schlimm is an associate in Gowling WLG's Toronto office, where he is an integral member of the Financial Services meets Technology (FSxT) team, the Business Law Group and the Blockchain Group. Quinn excels in navigating the complexities of commercial negotiation and drafting. His experience includes technology contracting, payments, mergers and acquisitions, and blockchain and cryptocurrency matters. Quinn keenly keeps abreast of the latest developments in legal issues impacting the technology and financial services sectors.
Quinn’s experience includes working as a legal counsel at a Schedule I bank (on secondment), where he handled payments matters as well as technology and enterprise agreements. This invaluable experience provided Quinn with a profound appreciation for the intricate needs of legal departments. By working collaboratively with business teams, compliance professionals and the third-party risk management team, Quinn was able to deliver practical and timely legal and strategic advice in a fast-paced environment.
He completed his JD/MBA program at the University of Toronto, where he distinguished himself academically. During his time there, Quinn also served as an editor for both the U of T Faculty of Law Review and the Journal of International Law and International Relations, showcasing his dedication to legal scholarship. Quinn also holds an Honours BA from the University of Toronto, Trinity College.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Quinn worked as a legal intern for a leading telematics company, focusing on data governance and data privacy for connected vehicles.
