Rachel Armstrong

Rachel has been working in the UAE since 2013 during which time she has built up a reputation as a one of the region's leading IP practitioners. Her practice covers the full lifecycle of IP rights from strategic filing advice through to commercialisation and enforcement. Rachel has managed IP portfolios, contentious IP matters and commercial IP matters around the region and further afield for clients. Her work includes advising some of the world's most prominent companies, predominantly in the leisure, entertainment, fashion, e-commerce, technology and FMCG sectors, Government entities and research and development labs.

In addition to her IP specialism, Rachel is also a well-regarded commercial lawyer having spent time on secondment within the in-house team of the region's largest ecommerce marketplace, which is also one of the world's largest companies. Rachel also acted for this client on a range of work streams (including IP) within private practice. Most recently, Rachel spent two years as senior legal counsel at Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) where she handled a wide range of matters including drafting and negotiating complex partnership and sponsorship deals; product procurement, licensing, franchising and, the IP protection of Dubai's iconic Museum of the Future. Also during her time at DFF, she led the intellectual property strategy for both DFF and as part of the team at a government level reforming the UAE IP framework in line with the countries strategic objectives.

The foremost IP publications recognise Rachel as a leading individual. Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) included Rachel in the 2022 edition of "IP Ones to Watch" and World Trademark Review (WTR) recognised her in the 2021 edition of its prestigious annual guide.
