Sarah Pivnick

Sarah is a commercial real estate associate in Gowling WLG’s Vancouver office.  Her practice covers a wide range of real estate and corporate commercial matters including development, leasing and financing, corporate governance, and general business law.  

Immediately prior to joining Gowling WLG, Sarah worked for a boutique corporate commercial law firm and, before that, as a director with a public health college governed by the the Health Professions Act. In her pre-law career, Sarah was employed as a chemical engineer, consulting with clients from various commercial and industrial sectors to improve water system treatments.

Sarah serves as a public member on the Discipline Committee of the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.

Representative Work

  • Represented a developer in connection with a multi-phase mixed-use development, including negotiating, drafting and registration, in collaboration with the municipality, of section 219 covenants, road dedications, survey plans, road dedications, housing agreements, conservation covenants and other matters under the Local Government Act, drafting disclosure statements pursuant to the Real Estate Development and Marketing Act.

  • Represented the purchaser of leasehold interest on a major commercial property with an acquisition value of approximately $220 million.

  • Represented developers with respect to negotiation, drafting and registration of various acquisition structures including investment agreements/joint ventures, limited partnerships and bare trust agreements.
  • Represented private lender MIC in connection with various residential and commercial mortgage loans.
  • Represented purchaser acquiring all the shares of an international franchise with over 400 worldwide quick-service restaurants, with a transactional value of approximately CDN$25 million.
