Shuang Ren
Shuang Ren is an associate in Gowling WLG's Toronto office, practising in the Real Estate Financial Services Department. Shuang's practice focuses on property disputes, land use planning and litigation. Her practice involves representing a diverse range of stakeholders in the development industry, including developers, municipalities and community organizations.
Shuang also has experience in enforcing intellectual property rights, encompassing patent and trademark prosecution and litigation. During her time in law school, Shuang interned at a quantum computing company, where she contributed to the development of the patent portfolio. Additionally, she volunteered with the IP Osgoode Innovation Clinic, offering legal information services to startup and scale-up companies, inventors and entrepreneurs seeking guidance in the innovation and commercialization processes.
Having appeared before various levels of court in Ontario and administrative tribunals, including the Ontario Land Tribunal, Assessment Review Board, and Landlord and Tenant Board, Shuang has a robust litigation experience, and she has navigated legal complexities and has leveraged mediation and other alternative dispute resolution approaches to resolve intricate legal issues.
Shuang completed her JD at Osgoode Hall Law School. She also holds a master of science in materials science and bachelor of engineering in materials processing and control engineering. Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Shuang passed the bar exam in China and worked as a senior lecturer at a university in Shanghai.
