Sophia advises on a variety of commercial disputes, and has worked on a range of matters encompassing general commercial litigation, international arbitrations, regulatory investigations and enforcements, and insolvency litigation. Many of the disputes Sophia has worked on have an international aspect.

Sophia has advised a range of clients, including corporates, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, insolvency practitioners and foreign law firms.

Experience

• Acting for the Financial Reporting Council in relation to its investigations and enforcement actions concerning the collapse of Carillion plc, including a disciplinary tribunal hearing against seven respondents.
• Acting for an energy company in ad hoc arbitration proceedings claiming multi-billion dollar damages against another energy company.
• Advising insolvency practitioners in relation to complex liquidations. This has involved providing advice in relation to investigations, court applications, jurisdiction issues, and the insolvency estate's potential claims.
• Advising a corporate in relation to a completion accounts dispute.
