Stefan Hreno
Stefan Hreno is a summer law student in Gowling WLG’s Calgary office.
This fall, Stefan will be entering his third year at Robson Hall, where he is pursuing his JD.
Prior to law school, Stefan graduated with a BSc with distinction from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Manitoba. During his undergraduate degree and first year of law school, he consistently worked, volunteered, studied, and became one of the top sprinters in Canada, recently breaking the university school record.
Stefan has received several awards related to community involvement as well as academic and athletic achievements. In 2022, he received the Order of Sport Excellence Award from the Government of Manitoba, which celebrates athletic achievements of Manitobans. Stefan is also a multi-time member of the Dean’s List and Academic All Canadian.
As a recent senior university athlete, Stefan remains actively involved with Bison Sports and the broader sports community. Outside of athletics, he has spent years working with Child and Family Services and St. Amant Centre supporting vulnerable youth/people living with disabilities, while leading teams in response to crisis situations. He has also been an executive member of World University Services of Canada working with refugee students, stakeholders and has presented on a national scale.
Presently, Stefan is involved with Robson Hall community, where he serves as the president of Robson Hall’s Labour and Employment group as well as an executive on the Clinical Experience Committee. Stefan is also in the process of completing the Canadian Securities Course and is passionate about the competitive nature of the challenges that practising business law presents.
Stefan is passionate about fitness, especially golf, and has a wide variety of interests including cooking, piano, skiing and his pug Georgina. He also remains actively involved with his Icelandic heritage and community.
