Yasmin Khaliq

Yasmin Khaliq is an associate in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office, practising in the Advocacy Group. Yasmin’s practice focuses on health law and medical defence, including acting as counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
Yasmin completed her JD in the French Common Law program at the University of Ottawa with a concentration in Health Law. Her legal career follows a career as a hospital/research pharmacist during which she worked in a number of specialty areas, providing patient care, participating in research and writing a number of medical publications. Yasmin was also a public member on two administrative tribunals, the Consent and Capacity Board and the Ontario Review Board.
Yasmin co-authored a chapter in a University of Ottawa textbook on COVID-19 during law school and has published articles on mental health law in the Ottawa Citizen and Policy Options.
Yasmin is active in the community, helping refugees settle in Ottawa and is Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors at Cornerstone Housing for Women.
