Yasmin Khaliq

Yasmin Khaliq is a summer law student in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office. She will focus her summer work in the Advocacy Group.

Yasmin recently completed her second year of the French Common Law program at the University of Ottawa. During her studies, Yasmin has been focusing on health law and has been coauthor/primary author on a chapter and an online article on mental health law in the context of COVID-19. Additionally, Yasmin worked as a research assistant focusing on the topic of the neurological definition of death. During her first year, Yasmin won one of the top awards for performance in the French program’s 1L moot court competition.

Prior to entering law school, Yasmin worked as a pharmacist providing patient care in a hospital setting. Her focus has been in infectious diseases, hematology/oncology, as well as complex continuing care and geriatrics. Yasmin was also involved in research, teaching and has written numerous medical publications.  In recent years, Yasmin was a public member for both the Consent and Capacity Board and the Ontario Review Board.

Yasmin’s outside interests include open water swimming, running, hiking and travelling.
