  • Counsel to the Development Bank of South Africa, South African National Treasury and South African Department of Energy on the development of the country's base and mid-load IPP programme
  • Counsel to the Northern Ireland Authority for Energy Regulation and the Commission for Energy Regulation on the introduction of a new and unique cross-border wholesale power trading market
  • Advised BEIS's smart meter programme - the largest new technology infrastructure programme of its kind ever undertaken in Great Britain - involving an £11 billion installation of smart meters in all domestic and small business premises, requiring 30 million premises to be visited. The project saw the firm's Energy and Natural Resources team named as Energy & Infrastructure Team of the Year at the 2017 British Legal Awards
  • Advised Primrose Solar in relation to the disposal of its final five UK solar farms to Equitix Infrastructure, a 350MW programme of acquisition, development, commissioning and disposal undertaken by Primrose since 2013
  • Represented E.ON, commencing legal proceedings to determine contractual responsibility after it was established that grouted connection problems were being encountered in 60 wind turbine generators at an offshore wind farm, and across the industry. The team advised E.ON to establish the appropriate rectification strategy and to understand and manage its business risks, representing them throughout the ensuing litigation proceedings. This widely reported case culminated in a decision of the Supreme Court in August 2017. The team's contractual interpretation changed the way contracts, in particular technical documents, should be looked at in the future
  • Counsel to a variety of offshore infrastructure developer owners on project development, acquisitions and divestitures, financings and commercial contracts
  • Advising the Government of Barbados in reviewing the Power Purchase Agreement and ancillary contracts with Cahill Energy
  • Counsel to Sterigenics, a portfolio company of GTCR, in its US$826 million cross-border acquisition of Nordion Inc.
  • Special counsel to Emera Inc. on the negotiation of formal agreements with Nalcor Energy for the development and transmission of hydroelectric power from the CAD$7 billion Muskrat Falls, Canada
  • Counsel to AGR Energy Limited No. 1, which has proposed to invest approximately £37.1 million in Max Petroleum Plc by way of a conditional cash subscription of new ordinary shares
