IP Official fees to increase in Indonesia
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia is set to increase the official fees for several services carried out by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of Indonesia.
Notably, the official fees for the recordal of assignments of copyrights, patents, industrial designs and trade marks all appear to be set for an increase. In addition, the official fees for the late renewal of trade mark registrations and the penalty fees for the late payment of annuities for patents are also set to be increased.
It is our understanding that the draft list of official fee increases was only announced on 15 August 2017, but the increases are expected to enter into force by the end of this year. For completeness, note the possibility that the Government may yet choose to exclude certain items from the draft list of official fee increases. We are monitoring the situation with the assistance of our local agents in Indonesia, and will keep you updated once there has been official confirmation on the fee increases, which is likely to be when the relevant Government Regulation has been signed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
