Speaking recently with The Globe and Mail, Thomas Timmins, leader of Gowling WLG's Energy Group, provided expert insights into the potential consequences of Ontario Premier Doug Ford's proposal to terminate energy exports to the United States.

Timmins explained that while the technical process of disconnecting Ontario from the U.S. grid would be relatively straightforward, the broader implications would be significant.

"The northeast of North America is all one grid, effectively," Timmins stated. "It's like a room full of chandeliers that are all tied together. If you touch one chandelier, another on the other side of the room shakes."
