Chong Tan

Chong Tan is a summer law student in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office.
Chong is completing her three-year study of JD program at Osgoode Hall Law School. During her studies, Chong actively participated in pro bono services, conducting legal research and producing research memos focused on social assistance at Community Legal Clinic of York Region, and worked on client cases, providing legal advice under the guidance of staff lawyers. Additionally, Chong was involved in multiple first-year intra-school moot competitions.
Prior to entering law school in Canada, Chong earned a bachelor of journalism degree and a master of law degree in China. After graduation, Chong practised as a trademark attorney in the Beijing Office of a US law firm for over five years. During this time, Chong provided legal services to clients in various industries and gained a lot of experience in trademark prosecution and litigation.
Chong will focus her summer term in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group.
