Hans Schroeder, PhD

Dr. Hans Schroeder is a partner in the Ottawa office of Gowling WLG. He provides strategic advice to chemical, pharmaceutical, life science and biotechnology companies in respect to patent protection, including drafting, prosecution, due diligence and portfolio management.

With a strong and diverse scientific background, Hans provides patent drafting and prosecution services for all subject matter areas of biotechnology, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals and therapeutics, molecular biology, microbiology and immunology, bioinformatics and nanotechnology. Many of his patent drafts are filed internationally and successfully prosecuted through to issuance in countries around the world. 

In addition to the services he provides in specialized areas of biotechnology, Hans also has significant experience in more traditional subject matter areas, such as general chemistry, materials science and chemical and mechanical engineering, including the drafting and prosecution of complex chemical engineering applications.
