Helia Moghaddam is a summer student in Gowling WLG’s Toronto office.
Helia is completing her juris doctor at Queen’s University, Faculty of Law, where she has developed a strong interest in litigation and oral advocacy. She was awarded Silver Oralist at the Davies Corporate/Securities Law Moot and was also a finalist in the Hicks Morley Moot (Queen’s round).
During law school, Helia has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and community involvement. She is the president and founder of the Iranian Law Students Association, vice president of marketing for the International Law Club, and an alumni committee member at Queen’s Law. She is also a two-time TEDx speaker.
Prior to law school, Helia earned an Honours bachelor of arts in English language and literature from the University of British Columbia, graduating with distinction and appearing on the Dean’s Honour Roll. During her time at UBC, she held several leadership roles focused on student engagement and institutional strategy, including serving as president of the UBC Student Alumni Council. In this role, she worked closely with senior university leadership, advising on student experience and leading large-scale initiatives.
Helia’s professional experience reflects a strong focus on communication, problem-solving, and client-oriented support. As an associate career advisor, she guided students through complex academic and professional decisions, while her work as an English tutor for students with disabilities since 2019 has required her to develop tailored, results-driven approaches.
Helia will focus her summer in the firm’s Advocacy Department.
