
Bio
Nicole Balthazar is an articling student in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office.
Nicole completed her J.D at the University of Windsor, with a focus on Indigenous Legal Orders. During her studies, Nicole garnered distinction in the Windsor Law Legal Research and Writing Moot and was Co-Chair of the Lloyd Dean Moot. She was also a student ambassador, member of the Truth and Reconciliation Steering Committee, and Executive Events Coordinator for the Windsor Law Health Law Club. Additionally, Nicole was involved in the Windsor Law Transnational Arts and Entertainment Law Clinic, which focused on sports law, entertainment law, and entrepreneurship in Windsor and Detroit. Beyond campus, she made impactful contributions at the Legal Assistance of Windsor Clinic, focusing on Indigenous Gender-Based Violence, and collaborated with Dr. Beverly Jacobs and Dr. Tess Sheldon on a compelling chapter about Indigenous Health for the Public Health Law & Policy in Canada 5th Edition textbook.
Prior to entering law school, Nicole earned an Honours BA in Latin American Studies with minors in Philosophy and History from the University of Toronto. She also played a pivotal role at the Native Women’s Resource Centre of Toronto as the Investing in Women’s Future Coordinator, where she guided Indigenous women, girls, and 2Spirited individuals in their transformative journeys toward empowerment and healing.
In her spare time, Nicole finds joy in perfecting the elegant rhythms of Brazilian Samba no Pé, embracing the discipline of Pilates and delving into the subtle yet exquisite craft of perfumery.
