Bio
Tyler Severson is an articling student in Gowling WLG's Vancouver office.
Prior to joining the firm as an articling student, Tyler was a judicial law clerk at the Alberta Court of Justice, clerking for the Honourable Justice A.P. Argento.
Tyler spent his first summer working as a law student in Gowling's Calgary office and his second summer in the Vancouver office.
Tyler obtained his JD from the Peter A. Allard School of Law (UBC). While in law school, Tyler served as an executive with the Sport, Entertainment and Law Society club, and represented UBC at the Hockey Arbitration Competition of Canada. He also gained trial experience by participating in the Criminal Clinic, representing clients in provincial court. In his final year of law school, Tyler spent a semester abroad at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
Tyler has been honoured with various awards and scholarships, including the Arthur Close, QC Prize for legal research and writing; the Adam Albright Memorial Award and Graduating Class of Law 1967 Award for high academic standing and participation in athletics; and the Kenneth G. Young, QC Scholarship and Allan McEachern Prize for high standing in criminal law classes.
Prior to law school, Tyler studied political science at the University of Victoria. During his time at UVIC, Tyler played on the men's hockey team, competing in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League.
