Gowling WLG has advised Primrose Solar on the sale of its five remaining solar PV sites, with a combined capacity of 80MW, to Equitix, all of which were RO-accredited.

The five remaining solar farms were located in the Vale of Glamorgan, Dorset, Norfolk and Canworthy Solar Farm in Cornwall, which was the largest remaining site in the portfolio at 41MW.  The deal brings an end to a successful year for renewable energy developer Primrose Solar, having fully-developed and sold its entire portfolio of solar farms, totalling 260MW of assets, in a year.

Gowling WLG has worked alongside Primrose throughout each of this year's transactions, which have included the sales of six solar farms to Greencoat Capital in November, securing a £42m project financing and the disposal of four solar firms at the start of the year to Bluefield, including the large-scale 48MW Southwick Estate solar farm in Hampshire.

Corporate and energy partner Gareth Baker and corporate associate Jade MacDonald led on the deal. Gareth said: "The disposal of Primrose Solar's five remaining solar farms brings to an end a very active year for the Primrose team. We are pleased and honoured that we have been able to work with Primrose throughout its journey."

Primrose CEO Giles Clark said: "We are very grateful to the Gowling WLG team for helping us to complete a complex split transaction to a tight timetable, with this being just the most recent piece of excellent work that the team has done for Primrose, since we first started working together in 2013."

The full Gowling WLG team included partner Helen Emmerson, director Joe Morris, principal associate Kulvir Desai and associates Gary Parmley and David Barry (real estate), director Zoe Fatchen and senior associate Tom Rank (tax), principal associate Erika Pircher-Eschig (project finance), partner Derek Goodban (regulatory), director Graham Wrigglesworth (planning), principal associate James Bruce (construction), director Louise Clifford, and associate Emma Hine (employment), and associate Mark Knight (energy and corporate).
