Gowling WLG is among the finalists in four categories at this year's West Midlands Finance Awards: Finance Team of the Year, Business Innovation, Excellence in Diversity and Finance Director of the Year.
Run by The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Robert Walters and RSM, The West Midlands Finance Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals within the region's finance community, across all sectors. Entries are assessed by an independent panel of expert judges and are subject to both written applications and face-to-face interviews.
Gowling WLG's shortlisting in the Finance Team of the Year category acknowledges our Finance team's achievements over the past 12 months and its continued investment in developing people and talent. Working collaboratively with other specialist teams across the firm it has embraced new technology, systems and approaches, to deliver significant improvement initiatives which support the firm and its people.
In the Business Innovation category, it is the team's advancements in firm-wide reporting and analysis as well as the implementation of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology that has gained recognition. The RPA project has brought process improvements to certain routine tasks, enabling processes to be carried out 24/7, while also allowing time to be reinvested in other key projects.
Alongside these two shortlisted submissions, Gowling WLG has been nominated for the Excellence in Diversity award and Chief Operating Officer Andrew Edginton has been named in the shortlist for Finance Director of the Year. Both credit the team's success and reputation in the wider business community.
Winners of the West Midlands Finance Awards are to be announced at a ceremony on 5 December 2019 at The International Conference Centre, Birmingham.
