Gowling WLG Dubai's technology and intellectual property teams have been named as leaders in their field in the Legal 500 2020 EMEA guide.
Gowling WLG Dubai's technology team make their debut to the Legal 500 EMEA rankings having established the practice only two years ago. Led by Tony Fielding and his second in command Alexandre Brazeau the team's specialism in disruptive technology, FinTech, e-commerce, aviation-tech, digital transformation and blockchain has seen them win large clients and innovative work. This ranking comes after the recent success of being named 'TMT Team of the Year' by The Oath Middle East Legal Awards in December and being shortlisted for the same title by the Middle East Legal Awards in February.
Jon Parker, global IP leader and head of Gowling WLG Dubai's IP practice remains in the ranking as a 'Leading Individual' with the Dubai based IP team also ranked. Clients say: 'The team has a breadth of knowledge and offers practical advice. It is on the ground in the UAE which means it has solutions that some other remote firms cannot and do not offer' and 'Responsive, understand client's needs, practical and cost effective'. This ranking is the latest in a long list of Jon and teams accolades. So far in 2020, Jon has been named an IAM Global Leader, WIPR Leader, WTR 1000 Gold Tier and Band 1 Individual in Chambers Global where his team are also ranked as Band 1.
Legal 500 also acknowledges the transactional work the team does in supporting Gowling WLG's UAE based corporate team headed by Tim Casben, and recently expanded with the hire of Suhail Mirza.
These achievements underscore the firm's commitment to providing high quality expertise across its core practise areas of corporate, technology and intellectual property.
