CRH Canada Group Inc. (CRH) (with trade names in the Province of Ontario that include Dufferin Aggregate, Dufferin Concrete, Ontario Redimix and Dufferin Construction) is one of Canada’s largest vertically integrated materials and construction companies, manufacturer and suppliers of a diverse range of building materials and products for use in the construction and maintenance of infrastructure, housing and commercial projects.
CRH was granted an interlocutory injunction by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on March 25, 2022, against numerous defendants from blocking access to its facilities.
The matter was eventuated by a blockade which began the week prior and which resulted in several CRH’s facilities not being accessible and flow of building materials from CRH significantly slowed down.
After being retained, a Gowling WLG team led by Sahil Shoor worked around the clock to prepare and file injunction materials within days before successfully arguing the injunction in front of Justice Mills in Milton court.
CRH was successful on all grounds. As part of the court ordered injunction, defendants (or anyone with the knowledge of the court order) cannot block access to any of CRH’s facilities in Ontario.
