GOWLING WLG ENTERS INTO COOPERATION AGREEMENT WITH OMANI FIRM JAMAL AL AMRI ADVOCATES AND LEGAL CONSULTANTS
Gowling WLG (UK) LLP and Omani law firm Jamal Al Amri Advocates and Legal Consultants (JA Legal) have entered into a cooperation agreement.
JA Legal is one of the most reputed and well established law firms in Oman with a robust and diverse client base. The Omani-owned law firm is headed by two partners, Jamal Al Amri and Aladdin Sidahmed, and serves both local and international clients from its office located in central Muscat.
The cooperation agreement will enable Gowling WLG clients in need of legal advice and holistic support in Oman - or those seeking to enter the Oman market - to access JA Legal's broad suite of legal services. In turn, the agreement will also allow JA Legal to fully support its domestic clients looking to expand and develop their business operations beyond Oman's borders and to derive direct benefit from Gowling WLG's international legal services platform.
The two firms will work together across a diverse spectrum of sectors and services including: government advisory, intellectual property, technology media and telecoms (TMT), corporate and mergers and acquisitions, energy and infrastructure, project development and finance, construction disputes and international arbitration.
Jonathan Brufal, Partner and UK Head of International Projects, and Tim Casben, Managing Partner in Dubai, are leading Gowling WLG's relationship with JA Legal. They will receive support in Canada from partner Ruba El-Sayegh, who co-leads the firm's Arab States Country Desk together with Tim.
Jonathan said: "Our firm has considerable experience and strength in the Middle East and establishing a significant relationship in Oman is a natural step in our expansion strategy globally and across the MENA region and follows our successful ongoing cooperation agreement with Saudi firm, Al Ghazzawi & Partners which began in late 2021. The agreement with JA Legal will further bolster our expertise in the region and support clients to enable them to take full advantage of a wide range of commercial opportunities in Oman. We look forward to building a strong and sustainable alliance with JA Legal for the benefit of both parties and our respective clients."
Commenting on the agreement, Jamal Al Amri, Partner at JA Legal, added: "We are delighted to formalise and set on a sustainable basis our association with Gowling WLG by entering into this cooperation agreement. They are a highly regarded, well established international law firm both globally and regionally with whom we have already had the opportunity to work on a diverse number of challenging transactions, delivering a legal services offering of the highest quality which has been very well received by the clients concerned. Importantly, the two firms share a well focused set of commercial and ethical principles dedicated to the servicing of the clients concerned and their respective business interests. We accordingly hold Gowling WLG in the highest regard and we look forward very much to taking our working relationship with them to the next level and to working with them over the course of the years that lie ahead."
Gowling WLG has offices in 19 cities across nine countries, including, the UK, Canada, France, Belgium, Germany, the United Arab Emirates and China.
