Empowering legal leadership and peer mentorship: Gowling WLG announces founding sponsorship of the GC Collective

11 septembre 2023

Gowling WLG is thrilled to announce its founding sponsorship of the GC Collective, an innovative network of senior legal executives fundamentally changing the support landscape for general counsel (GCs).

The GC Collective's mission is twofold: to alleviate the isolation routinely experienced by GCs and to elevate the role of GC in organizations across Canada. In working toward these goals, the GC Collective strives to foster a community where GCs can engage in authentic conversation, share knowledge and expertise, and access GC-specific leadership training and resources.

As a firm committed to nurturing the professional growth of GCs throughout the legal industry, including those working for our clients, Gowling WLG is eager to support these activities.

A driving force behind Gowling WLG's sponsorship is Aimee Halfyard, a partner based in the firm's Vancouver office. A former GC herself, Aimee understands the importance, both personally and professionally, for GCs to have access to a robust peer network.

"I had the privilege of joining the GC Collective in its beta phase, while I was serving as a company's GC and looking to establish myself professionally in Vancouver," said Aimee. "Through the organization, I discovered a tight-knit, supportive group of fellow GCs – one that enabled me to forge professional connections and which has since become an integral part of my professional network."
