Douglas D. Buchmayer

Douglas Buchmayer is a partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. His practice concentrates on Estate and Trust Planning, Litigation, and Administration, with a particular focus on Indigenous Trusts.

Douglas is a former Bar Admission Course instructor at the Law Society of Ontario for the Estate Practice section, and he has lectured on estate and trust law at the University of Ottawa. He has also spoken and given papers at various continuing legal education seminars.

Douglas's experience in drafting and advising in relation to Indigenous Trusts involves impact benefit agreements, land settlement claims, and collaboration agreements, as well as others. He has been general counsel for the Nunavut Trust Fund for over 20 years. He is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
