Ben Goldby

Ben Goldby helps trustee and sponsoring employer clients to navigate the complex and ever-changing legislative and regulatory pensions landscape.

He has advised on scheme mergers, liability management exercises, buy-in and buy-out risk transfer projects, closure of final salary pension schemes to future accrual and scheme wind-up. Ben also advises employer clients on group life assurance and healthcare trusts.

Ben enjoys the variety of working across a number of industries and sectors, while maintaining his focus on providing clear and commercially focused legal solutions. As a former journalist he uses his communication skills to provide engaging, simple and accessible pensions law advice to clients.

  • Advising on both Barber and GMP equalisation issues and correction exercises for a range of clients across various sectors.
  • Providing advice to trustee clients on various liability management exercises including PIEs, FROs and ETVs.
  • Setting up a healthcare trust for a large employer and providing regular training to the trustees.
  • Advising an education sector client on a scheme merger, including benefit specification reviews, merger deed amendments and providing quick and effective solutions to potential problems.
  • Advising on a DC to DC bulk transfer proposal for a closed DB scheme with a large DC section.
