Daniel Cole

Daniel Cole is head of the firm's Intellectual Property Department in Toronto, practising exclusively in the areas of advertising and marketing law. He is also a former leader of the firm's Advertising Practice Group. His practice focuses primarily on contest design & review, automotive advertising, packaging & labelling and advertising copy review. He also advises clients on consumer protection law and the legal logistics of developing e-commerce platforms.

A large part of Daniel's practice involves advising on social media legal issues, including the design of targeted social media programs, drafting social media policies and managing public relations concerns. With extensive experience in social media and marketing, he is able to help his clients navigate a complex and constantly evolving landscape. He regularly works with clients' legal and executive teams to manage risk and streamline processes related to their advertising and marketing procedures.

Daniel is a frequent speaker and author on social media and advertising law (including at the Association of Corporate Counsel, Lexpert, IT-CAN and the Brand Activation Association), and was previously adjunct faculty at Osgoode Hall Law School.

He is recognized in Chambers Canada, Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, Best Lawyers in Canada, Acritas Stars, and Lexpert's 2020 Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40.
