Georgia Morris

Bio

Georgia is a Senior Associate in the commercial litigation team. She has significant experience in advising on corporate disputes, particularly relating to shareholder claims, directors duties and economic torts. Georgia also has experience of contentious insolvency work, both for insolvency practitioners and respondents, alongside breach of contract claims, professional negligence and misrepresentation claims.

Over the last three years Georgia has acted for clients on multiple appeals to the Court of Appeal and successfully pursued and defended numerous injunctions.

Georgia has been recognised as a 'key lawyer' in the Legal 500 for the last three years, being described as 'outstanding' (Leal 500, 2023) and 'fantastically capable' (Legal 500, 2021).

Expérience

Successfully defending two former directors in a multi-party action, involving claims of £35 million for breach of fiduciary duty, transactions to defraud creditors and conspiracy to cause loss by unlawful means - Henderson & Jones v Ross and Ors (High Court).
Acting for the majority shareholders of five companies in successfully defending a claim for unfair prejudice and just and equitable winding up - Loveridge v Loveridge (High Court and Court of Appeal).
Defending three partners against claims for breach of duty and partnership dissolution of a £30 million business, including numerous interim injunctions - Loveridge v Loveridge (High Court and Court of Appeal).
Successfully defending a committal application and securing the recovery of indemnity costs (Court of Appeal).
Successfully defending a respondent against a winding up order and freezing order sought by a provisional liquidator arising out of an alleged £50 million Ponzi scheme - Hunt v Black Capital (High Court and Court of Appeal).
Advising a claimant in relation to a professional negligence claim (worth in excess of £10 million) against the party's former accountants.
Advising an Applicant company seeking to recover £1.2 million in unsecured loans, resulting in a contested administration application involving issues of standing and equitable assignment of debt.
Acting for the liquidator in a multi-million pound claim over MTIC fraud within the supply chain of companies involved in the retail sector.
