Leigh Ann Sheather
Leigh Ann Sheather is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Hamilton office. Acting primarily on behalf of financial institutions and large creditors, Leigh Ann’s practice focuses on creditors' rights and recovery services.
With more than 20 years of experience in her field, Leigh Ann has practiced extensively in the areas of mortgage enforcement, recovery of secured and unsecured debt, as well as bankruptcy and related litigation, including insurance and professional responsibility. Leigh Ann frequently advises on matters of creditors’ rights. She has appeared before all levels of Ontario courts, including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal.
Leigh Ann’s experience has earned her a number of client and peer-driven industry accolades, including annual recognition by Best Lawyers Canada since 2014, and inclusion in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory since 2015.
Her clients benefit from her strong communication skills, deep understanding of their needs and her practical, cost-effective approach. Leigh Ann prioritizes the best interests of her clients, and protects their reputations and relationships by resolving matters with respect and fairness.
In her career, Leigh Ann has held a number of leadership positions within the firm. She currently sits on the Gowling WLG Board of Trustees, and has previously acted as Hamilton office managing partner and national practice area lead for the Recovery Services Group.
Outside of her legal practice, Leigh Ann is a passionate advocate for animal welfare. She has served as a board member of Zachary’s Paws for Healing, a Hamilton-based charitable foundation that facilitates in-hospital pet visits and offers fostering services for pet owners facing long hospital stays.
