Nevena Cekic

Nevena Cekic is an associate in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, practising in the Intellectual Property Litigation Group. Her practice focuses on enforcing intellectual property rights, in the context of patent, trademark and copyright litigation.

Nevena completed her law degree at the University of Ottawa. While in law school, she advanced to the quarterfinals in the Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot, as well as the semi-finals in the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot.

Prior to entering law school, Nevena earned an MSc in chemistry from Simon Fraser University, and authored multiple scientific publications. She subsequently worked as a chemistry and biochemistry research associate at a pharmaceutical company in British Columbia where she synthesized small molecules targeting enzymes that play important roles in neurodegenerative diseases. She also optimized in vitro assays for screening target compounds.
