Spencer Thompson

Spencer Thompson is an associate in Gowling WLG's Toronto office. Spencer practices in the firm's Advocacy group and is involved in a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters.

Spencer regularly volunteers with Pro Bono Ontario's Free Legal Advice Hotline and is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, Toronto Lawyer's Association, and the Advocate's Society.

Spencer completed his Juris Doctor at Osgoode Hall Law School, his Master's of Science degree at the University of Western Ontario, and his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Waterloo.

During his legal studies, Spencer co-authored and published a peer-reviewed paper in the McGill Journal of Sustainable Development Law. He also volunteered as a caseworker in Osgoode's Community and Legal Aid Services Program and as a community mediator in Osgoode's Mediation Clinic.

Prior to law school, Spencer worked for the Lawson Health Research Institute at Parkwood Hospital in London, Ont. While at the institute, he helped coordinate a national medical research trial that was patient focused and conducted at sites across the country. The results of this randomized control trial were analyzed via peer review and published in various medical and rehabilitation journals.
