International trade, sanctions and export controls

• Advising a multinational manufacturer of specialised equipment for infrastructure developments in relation to the application of UK and EU sanctions law to the client's supply chain, including screening potential customers to determine whether such entities constituted sanctioned persons and reviewing the client's product range to determine whether certain products would be subject to trade restrictions.
• Advising a global manufacturer and supplier of power focused products in relation to the application of UK sanctions law to the supply of certain of its products.
• Advising UK based clients in a variety of sectors on the application of the UK export control regime to research collaborations.
• Advising a UK importer of agricultural produce in relation to the impact of the UK's tariff-quota regime on UK businesses, including in the context of an application for judicial review in respect of this regime.
• Representing a US-based wellness brand in relation to a variety of customs compliance matters, including product classification, managing preferential tariff treatment and supply chain management.

Merger control and NSIA

• Advising LumiraDx on merger control and foreign direct investment issues arising in the context of its $295 million sale of its "Point of Care" platform business to Roche, with the transaction being cleared under the UK merger control regime at Phase 1, and under the relevant foreign direct investment regimes in the UK, Italy, France, and Sweden.
• Advising TT Electronics plc on the application of the NSIA to the reorganisation and sale of three business units within its GMS and Power Connectivity divisions to the Cicor Group.
• Advising a global manufacturer of branded tools and equipment in relation to the application of the UK merger control regime and the NSIA to its planned acquisition of a competitor.

UK and EU competition law

• Advising a party subject to investigation by the CMA in relation to suspected anti-competitive conduct.

Competition litigation

UK subsidy control

• Advising various UK government departments on the application of the UK's subsidy control regime to a number of projects undertaken outside of the UK.
• Advising a regional utility regulator on the application of the EU State aid rules pursuant to the Northern Ireland Protocol and the UK subsidy control regime to the proposed establishment of a framework of grants of funding.
• Advising a devolved regional governance body in the context of the operation of a fund for the remediation of non-ACM cladding systems to ensure compliance with the applicable EU State aid and UK subsidy control regimes.
