Laurianne Walker-Hanley is an associate in Gowling WLG's Montréal office and practices in the Commercial Litigation Group.
She represents and advises clients in a variety of civil and commercial litigation matters, particularly in the areas of insurance, contractual disputes, product liability, defamation and construction. Her practice in civil liability also involves human rights issues as well as issues of personal injury and moral damages. She is involved at all stages, from the development of strategic advice to representation before the courts.
Laurianne holds a bachelor’s degree in civil law from the Université de Montréal, as well as a juris doctor in common law from Queen’s University. She represented Queen’s in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna.
While attending law school, Laurianne worked in the legal department at Investissements PSP, one of Canada’s largest pension investment managers, and at the Québec Government Office in New York.
Laurianne was actively involved in various committees and organizations during her academic life, notably in her role as vice-president of professional relations for the Law Student Association of the Université de Montréal, as well as her participation in the Droit de Cité debate on the French-language community radio station CIBL-FM. She also volunteered at the YWCA legal clinic during her bachelor’s degree. Laurianne is involved as a lawyer at the Women's Y legal clinic and sits on the Board of Directors of the Fondation du Pensionnat du Saint-Nom-de-Marie.
