Bio
Stefan Hreno is an articling student in Gowling WLG’s Calgary office.
Stefan completed his JD at Robson Hall. Prior to law school, Stefan graduated with a BSc with distinction from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Manitoba. During his undergraduate degree and first year of law school, Stefan consistently worked, volunteered, studied, and became one of the top sprinters in Canada, breaking the university school record in his first year of law school.
Stefan has received several awards related to community involvement as well as academic and athletic achievements. In 2022, he received the Order of Sport Excellence Award from the Government of Manitoba, which celebrates athletic achievements of Manitobans. Stefan is also a multi-time member of the Dean’s List and Academic All Canadian, and he was honored to receive the Frank Billinkoff and D.A. Thompson Q.C. Prize in Wills and Successions for achieving the highest standing in that subject.
Throughout his time at Robson Hall, Stefan was actively engaged with the community, serving as the President of Robson Hall's Labour and Employment group. Additionally, Stefan is passionate about corporate law and the competitive challenges it presents, which has driven his professional focus.
When he was a senior university athlete, Stefan was actively involved with Bison Sports and the broader sports community. Stefan currently serves on the board of the Canadian Sports Centre Manitoba (CSCM), which supports current and aspiring Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
Stefan is passionate about sports, especially golf, and has a wide variety of interests including cooking, piano, skiing, and his pug Georgina. He also remains actively involved with his Icelandic heritage and community.
