Jayde Wood
- Year of Call, British Columbia (2017)

Recognized by Lexpert and Best Lawyers as one of Canada's leading intellectual property lawyers, Jayde Wood is a partner in Gowling WLG's Vancouver office. As a lawyer, patent agent, and trademark agent, Jayde leverages deep experience in IP prosecution, portfolio management, and licensing to help clients protect, grow, leverage, and commercialize their IP assets at every stage of the business lifecycle. Organizations ranging from early-stage ventures to global enterprises rely on her comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and strategic approach to IP matters.
Jayde brings a business-first perspective to complex transactions and high-stakes matters. She leads IP due diligence and negotiates key provisions in complex life sciences, technology, and consumer deals. Known for precise, forward-looking drafting, she structures and operationalizes IP in material transfer, collaboration, licensing, co-development, research, IT, and services agreements. She also contributes to the CLEBC Due Diligence Deskbook on IP issues.
In her prosecution and portfolio management practice, Jayde advises local and multinational clients across patents, industrial designs, trademarks, and related rights. With an advanced science background, her patent work centers on biotech, medical devices, and food-tech, where she builds and manages patent portfolios, coordinates multi-jurisdictional filings, and tailors prosecution to product roadmaps and regulatory pathways. On the trademark side, she builds and defends strong marks, conducts clearance, obtains registrations for traditional and non-traditional marks, and oversees global portfolios, including for a provincial Crown corporation and one of Canada's largest credit unions. She also sets industrial design strategy for consumer and technology products.
Beyond her legal practice, Jayde is actively involved in bar associations, industry organizations, and her community. She serves as Vice Chair of the International Trademark Association's Commercialization of Intellectual Property Committee, Member-at-Large of the Canadian Bar Association National IP Law Section, and is a former board member of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and the Vancouver International Arbitration Centre.
In 2025, she was named one of Lexpert's Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40.
She holds law degrees from the University of British Columbia and UC Berkeley School of Law.
