Application process
The Law Society of Ontario sets the day and time that firms in Hamilton may contact students to arrange for an in-firm interview for articling. Selected candidates are interviewed in accordance with the Law Society of Ontario's Articling Recruitment Procedures.
Gowling WLG Hamilton is an equal opportunity employer. That said, our firm is dedicated to providing equitable opportunities for employment and advancement, and to creating a more inclusive workplace for all our people, as we believe that diverse professional and administrative teams make better decisions. Applicants who are Indigenous, racialized BIPOC, members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and persons with a disability are encouraged to self-identify.
We do not expect to participate in the 2023/2024 articling recruitment process. At this time, we do not have any positions available in addition to those we intend to offer to our 2022 summer students. Should you wish to submit an applications, we will be glad to accept it and keep it on file in the event that positions arise in the future. We wish all articling candidates success in their search for an articling position.
External rotations and secondments
To provide our articling students with valuable hands-on corporate experience, we occasionally offer external secondments on an ad hoc basis depending on the availability of suitable opportunities and students, and on resource constraints.
Student workload
While we do not set a target number of hours for our students, they are generally expected to carry a workload similar to that of our associates. The annual budget for Gowling WLG Hamilton associates is 1750 docketed hours, which means approximately 35 docketed hours per week.
Social programs
As part of the Gowling WLG Hamilton social program, our students enjoy a range of activities and social events. In the past these have included softball tournaments, curling bonspiels, hockey tournaments, skating events and bowling.
