Learning, development and benefits

Launchpad is our development programme which equips our newly qualified solicitors with the fundamental skills for their first year of qualification and beyond. The programme comprises a two-day main event with a number of follow-up workshops covering everything from good financial practice and business development essentials to career development planning, resilience and building relationships.

As an associate you'll receive ongoing training and development, along with opportunities for international or client secondments as your career progresses. We'll develop your skills in business development, client relationship management and as a supervisor.

Our senior associates are invited to join the milestone Senior Associate Development Centre shortly after promotion. The content of the programme is in line with expectations of core business skills and competencies at this level and is designed to teach the practical business, practice management and personal skills needed to excel and progress further. The programme is a series of modules covering topics such as Managing your Time, Energy and Conflicting Demands, Raising Your Profile, Personal Impact and Effective Supervision. Delivered by internal and external subject matter experts, the programme supports our Senior Associates in the step-change from Associate and builds a strong foundation for further development.

Our principal associates are invited to join the milestone Principal Associate Development Centre shortly after promotion. Like our Senior Associate Development Centre, the content of the programme is in line with expectations of core business skills and competencies at this level and is designed to teach the practical business, practice management and personal skills needed to excel and progress further. The programme is a series of modules covering topics such as Thinking Strategically, Leading & Motivating your Team, Innovation and Collaboration. The Principal Associate programme reflects the fact that attendees are experienced professionals who have a great deal to contribute to the firm in important areas for our business. The modules are pitched at "masterclass" level, and delivered by external specialists in conjunction with our own in-house subject matter experts.

We've developed a tailored induction for you once you've made it to partner, which will continue to grow your people, business and practice management skills, as well as your leadership and business development skills. We'll also assign a coach to you for six months to help you map out your new role, understand what's different and start to think about what's important for future success.
