Kirsten McCann

Kirsten McCann is an associate in Gowling WLG's Vancouver office. She works in the firm’s Advocacy Department and is a member of the Environmental Practice Group. Her practice includes a wide range of environmental, Indigenous, commercial and regulatory matters.
Kirsten joined the firm as a summer student in 2022 and completed her articles in 2024. She obtained her JD from the University of Ottawa Faculty of English Common Law with a specialization in public law. She was given the Dean's Honour List distinction for each academic term at the University of Ottawa. Throughout law school, Kirsten worked as a legislative intern at the Senate of Canada for Senator Yvonne Boyer and as the coordinator for the Women's Legal Education and Action Fund’s (LEAF) workshops on consent law in Ottawa. She also served as a bilingual assistant editor of the Ottawa Law Review, as a research assistant at uOttawa's Centre for Law, Technology and Public Policy, and as a student scholar at the Law Commission of Ontario where she contributed to environmental law reform. In her final year, Kirsten studied international law at the University of Rotterdam in the Netherlands during the fall semester.
Prior to law school, Kirsten obtained an honours specialization degree in political science at Western University. During her third year at Western, she studied European politics at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.
