Lydia Young is an associate in Gowling WLG’s Vancouver office and a member of the firm’s Indigenous Law Group.
Lydia’s practice focuses on natural resources, climate change, environmental remediation, land use planning and Indigenous law, including Indigenous governance. With a strong background in complex negotiations, Lydia has worked on matters related to the recognition and implementation of Indigenous rights, including the inherent right to self-govern.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Lydia articled at a highly regarded boutique law firm specializing in environmental, climate, resource governance and public interest law.
Lydia has volunteered as the Biodiversity Program Director for the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law. As an academic delegate, Lydia attended the Convention on Biological Diversity COP15 and has co-authored with international experts on topics pertaining to climate law and nature-based solutions to climate change.
