Mathilde Grammont

Mathilde Grammont is an intellectual property senior associate, who focuses her practice in multiple areas, including patents, in both litigation and non-litigation matters. She has experience representing clients related to infringement, validity unfair competition and ownership claims in complex multijurisdictional or domestic matters. She is registered as a UPC representative.
Mathilde Grammont also assists clients in the commercialisation of their IP rights, including NDA, R&D agreements, licensing, and other IP-related agreements and intervenes in corporate matters involving IP assets.
Mathilde has worked for major worldwide companies in a multitude of industries, including food and beverage, sports, telecoms, automotive and packaging. She also has experience working with clients in the life sciences sector, including pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Mathilde worked at two major international law firms, on both sides of the English Channel and trained at a major steel manufacturer.
Having lived and worked in France and the UK, she has a strong internationally oriented practice. She also completed a law degree in the UK and in the US.
Her expertise has been recognized by Best Lawyers as Ones to Watch in 2024 and 2025, by WTR 1000 as Recommended - Next Generation, by Managing IP as Rising Star since 2023 and by IAM Patent 1000 as Rising Star in 2025.
Membership: AIPPI, LES, APEB. Mathilde is also in charge of commenting on new UPC decisions during the AIPPI UPC Committee meetings, which are held every six weeks.
She has extensively contributed to the drafting of the Protocole on evolution of procedure before the IP chamber of the Paris Judicial court and its revision signed with the Paris respectively in July 2023 and December 2024 and is currently involved in the pending revision. She has taken part with the Ministry of Justice in the French group led by Malik Chapuis in the drafting of the rules of mediation and the rules of arbitration of the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Center of the UPC.
