Overview
Mediation is a valuable tool for achieving a cost-effective solution to disputes outside the constraints of the win/lose court process.
In the right case, mediation provides a flexible and confidential process, giving all parties control to decide (potentially at a very early stage in a dispute) whether to settle and, if so, on what terms.
With more than 170 lawyers all trained in mediation, our focus is to resolve disputes quickly, enabling, if possible, commercial relationships between parties to continue with minimum disruption.
We have the expertise and experience to advise on a range of disputes, including contract and commercial, pensions, construction, IP and international dispute resolution.
As founder members of the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) our team includes acknowledged leaders in the field.
We have more than 20 qualified mediators in the team.
Mediations and mediation clients are by definition confidential but one reported decision we can talk about is when the Court of Appeal refused to approve a settlement reached at mediation, and our experience helped the client to victory.
The case, Thakrar v Ciro Citterio Menswear PLC (In Administration) and Others is the leading authority on the binding nature of agreements reached in mediation.
