Gowling WLG's Energy team has acted in relation to the disposal of two operating onshore wind farms managed by Longspur Capital (Longspur) to Octopus Energy.
The wind farms are located at Bargoed, Caerphilly (South Wales) and North Cliffe (East Riding of Yorkshire).
The Longspur team working on the deal were Harry Bond, Mark Byrne Tim McBride, and Ana Quintanilha. Harry Bond, CEO and Founder of Longspur, said "This is the first time we have worked with Gowling WLG. Working with advisers that have a genuine and deep understanding and appreciation of the commercial and industry issues in the renewables sector is crucial for us. That was evident on the transaction and we appreciated the team's dedicated efforts to get the deal to a timely closing."
Co-head of Gowling WLG's Energy sector, Gareth Baker, led the deal working with principal associate Dhruv Chhatralia, associate Ben Parker and other Energy team members including Stephen White (Real Estate), James Stanier (Commercial & Regulatory), Tom Rank (Tax) and Ben Stansfield (Planning and Environmental).
Nath Curtis, Longspur's relationship partner, said "We are pleased to be working with Longspur on a number of opportunities and it's testament to both the quality of their project development expertise and the continuing strength of the UK infrastructure market that we reached completion in a short time frame. Our excellent Corporate Deal Team, led by my partner Gareth Baker, added real value and demonstrated the full-service nature of our Renewable Energy practice."
Gowling WLG's multi-disciplinary Energy team has a first-class reputation and operates seamlessly around the globe. The deal is another example of the team's position in the energy sector and follows recent mandates including advising Atmosclear Investments on the acquisition of a rooftop solar portfolio, advising Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust on its IPO, and advising Statkraft on its PPA with Seagreen Wind Energy.
